Sports History On This Day: September 15

September 15, 1957 – The San Francisco Seals minor league baseball club of the Pacific Coast League played their last game in the Bay area before relocating to Phoenix, Arizona. They were charter members in 1903 of the Pacific League along with the California Angels, Oakland Oaks, Seattle Indians, Portland Beavers, and Sacramento Solos.

The relocation of the MLB’s New York Giants to San Francisco was the main reason for the city losing the Seals. They provided many lasting memories for fans including multiple League titles.
