March 21, 1941 – Abe Simon stepped in the ring with Heavy Weight Champion Joe Louis at Detroit, Michigan’s Olympia Stadium. The two men fought hard in the battle for 12 rounds.

In the 13th stanza, though it was the Champ, Louis knocks out his challenger to the cheers of the Motor City crowd. It was the fifteenth title defense for the Brown Bomber who held the belt from 1937 all the way until his temporary retirement in 1949.
