Sports History On This Day: September 12

September 12, 1982 – At the US Open Men’s Tennis tournament there was a historic moment witnessed by tennis fans around the world. Jimmy Connors won his 4th US title when he defeated Czech star Ivan Lendl 6-3, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 in a fantastic rivalry between the two champions.
