August 19, 1903 – The Philadelphia Phillies suffered a record 9th straight postponed game. The main reason was due to the August 8, 1903, stadium accident at Baker Bowl during a game against the Boston Braves. 12 people died and 232 fans were injured 232 when a section of the balcony collapsed.
The August 8 event is still to this day referred to as “Black Saturday.” The stadium was eventually repaired and the Phils hosted games there for many years after.
