September 2, 1946 – Talk about one of the greatest sports competitors of all time and Ben Hogan should pop up in the conversation. The American golfer Hogan won the Golden State Open at the California Country Club in Los Angeles on this day in history.
The all-out victory was his third consecutive PGA event win and the 11th overall title of the season. In fact, it was the second time that year he won three straight tournaments! The man was a champion.
