Sports History On This Day: September 23

September 23, 1845 – The first organized baseball team, the NY Knickerbockers formed, after some younger members of another less formal team the New York Baseball Club fell apart. These founders of the Knickerbockers about a week later were joined by some medical students including one named Daniel Lucius Adams.
