August 12, 1948 – This really had to be a fun game to witness. Amazingly the Cleveland Indians produced 29 hits in a 9-inning game in the second contest of the day against the St. Louis Browns.
After the Tribe dropped the first of the twin bill 8-4 to St. Louis they came roaring back in game two of the evening falling one short of the AL record of 30 set by the New York Yankees some years earlier. And the final score? It ended up being 26-3 as the Indians earned the split.
