May 31, 1930 – At the famous St. Andrews Links in Scotland during the British Amateur Championship of Men’s Golf, American Bobby Jones won by being 7 up with 6 to play to win over British linkster Roger Wethered.
This would be the first victory in Jones’ Grand Slam run. At that time the accomplished golfer was the only person to have won all of the amateurs and opens in both America and Great Britain.
