Sports History On This Day: September 14

September 14, 1913 – Chicago Cubs pitcher Larry Cheney had a day that made most, probably Larry included, scratching their heads. In a bend but don’t break type of a game Cheney pitched a record 14-hit shutout against the New York Giants where the Cubs ended up prevailing by the score of 7-0.
